What Podcasts I’m Listening to and Why

I’ve supplemented aimless scrolling through social media with listening to podcasts. Here are some of my favorites.

I was never a fan of podcasts until recently. Quite honestly I thought they were pretentious. Listening to music has always been a way for me to relax and recharge, so why would I want to ruin that by listening to someone talk?

When I finally realized that there was an ocean of knowledge out there, and just how little I knew of it, I knew I needed to change. I was spending so much time on Instagram and TikTok, scrolling and scrolling, and nothing of value was ever learned. Instead, I needed to read. And when I couldn’t read, I still needed to learn. Podcasts provided a way.

I listen to a variety of podcasts. Venture Capital/Startup News shows are my favorite, followed closely by shows that cover the public markets and the economy. I also listen to shows that challenge my Christian faith, as well as morning devotionals.

Below is what I’m listening to, broken up by category.

Venture Capital and Startup News —

  • This Week in Startups with Jason Calacanis
  • All-In with Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks & David Friedberg
  • Equity with Alex Wilhelm (TechCrunch’s VC podcast)
  • Acquired with Ben Gilbert and David Rosenthal (Princeton alumn, woohoo!)
  • Fitt Insider with Joe Vennare (Focused on Health, Fitness, and Wellness sector)
  • a16z Podcast by Andreessen Horowitz
  • Associated with Francesca Baillieu

Public Markets and General Economy —

  • Wall Street Breakfast by Seeking Alpha
  • Snacks Minute by Robinhood Financial, LLC
  • Animal Spirits Podcast with Michael Batnick and Ben Carlson
  • Odd Lots with Joe Wiesenthal and Tracy Alloway (Bloomberg Podcast)
  • Freakonomics Radio with Stephen J. Dubner
  • Invest Like the Best with Patrick O’Shaughnessy (of OSAM Investment)

Faith —

  • Morning Manna with Bruce Turner (Weekday Morning Devotionals)
  • The Porch, weekly messages from the young adult ministry of Watermark Community Church in DTX
  • Language of God by BioLogos, messages on understanding the harmony between science and the Christian faith

I highly recommend all of these, so please feel free to contact me if you have any inquiries. Thank you for reading!
